Empathy Garden @ Orticolario 2014

201410141203541

In the heart of the Orticolario 2014 event, Architect Federico Giacomarra has created Empathy Garden, an interactive vegetable garden/garden located in the central area of the Villa Erba Exhibition Pavilion, which hosts the prestigious event dedicated to the world of floriculture from October 3 to 5, 2014. Protagonists of Empathy Garden, created as a synthesis of architecture, music and technology and evolution of the St Horto project exhibited at MoMA in New York and winner of several awards, are many of the horticultural and floral varieties grown by the Carmazzi Company. Colorful and with an enveloping scent, they contribute to the creation of an immersive and relaxing scenario with a simple message: it is only through the development of a strong empathic bond that we can find ourselves and feel in balance with our surroundings. Everything within Empathy Garden communicates through music: a weather station, the degree of people's activity, the tendrils themselves sonorized through the use of simple interactive technologies. A real multi-sensory space conceived by Giacomarra in collaboration with Landscape Architect Matteo Fogaroli, who selected and arranged the valuable floral varieties in an excellent way, joined by Iacopo Sinigaglia, sound designer, Marco Pesoli for the interactive part and Domenico Canzoniero in charge of iXorto the green network in the city.
