Medicus®, also known as Bulbine Frutescens, is a plant belonging to the Asphodelaceae family native to South Africa. È a succulent plant similar to aloe in some of its properties, consisting of rosettes of fleshy, light green leaves. The many small, yellow flowers form at the apex of long, slender stems. The plant, according to traditional South African medicine, has antibacterial capabilities and is useful in wound healing. Freshly squeezed juice from the leaves, applied frequently to the skin, is said to be effective in treating acne, minor burns, blisters, chapped skin and insect bites. It can also be used on animals.The fruit is contained in a 3-chambered capsule containing ovoid black seeds. As many as fifty different species exist in nature.
